Akava Special Branch councils can assist you with employment contracts and any issues related to your employment relationship. They provide guidance on matters such as employment terms, remuneration, and employment legislation. You can also ask for advice on interpreting unemployment benefits.

Collective agreements

Unions protect your rights at work and negotiate for you on key issues like pay, working hours, time off, equality, and occupational health and safety.

Salary counselling

Salary advice supports you when applying for a job or preparing for salary negotiations. Guidance on salaries based on collective agreements is provided by Akava Special Branch councils, together with Skilla’s sector-specific salary advice services.

Support for unemployment and career planning

Unemployment Security

Our employees in Akava's Special Branches receive unemployment protection in the Special Trained Unemployment Fund through Otte. Membership of the unemployment fund is included in your membership fee, and as a member of the fund you have the option of earnings-related unemployment benefit.

Personal career coaching

Through Akava Special Branches, you will receive personal career coaching, support for job search, help with career planning and development in your own work, and reinforcement of well-being at work. Career and job search service is included in your membership fee.

Support for job search

As a member of Akava Special Areas, you can participate in peer support groups, trainings and webinars or sparring groups for higher education graduates that promote employment.

Improve your working life skills with Eduhouse trainings

As a member of Akava Special Areas, you can participate free of charge in Eduhouse's trainings on Business, Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security and Working Life Skills.

As a member of Skilla, you can invite skillers to visit your workplace in the spirit of, for example, a breakfast meeting or afterwork. An excellent opportunity to network and strengthen the employer's image among the experts in the field!

Family and inheritance legal advice

As a member of Akava Special Areas, you will receive family and inheritance law advice and consultation. The service also includes the preparation of selected documents.

Member+ and other shopping benefits

The Member+ service brings together the benefits offered by Akava Specialty Sectors and the shared, changing interests of all Akavans. Through Akava Special Areas, you will also receive, among other things, a 30% discount on regular priced books in the Book online store and Danske Bank with extensive benefits for building your own finances and financial peace of mind.

Federation of Business Administration LTA Fund

The LTA Foundation supports the training of all members of Skilla. A personal grant can be applied for for further and continuing professional training. The application period is in the summer, and instructions and more detailed timetables are published on the Skilla website each year.

stipend

Skilla awards scholarships to students graduating 1—2 during spring and Christmas. Scholarships can be applied for themselves or on behalf of others.

AEK Education Foundation Grants

The AEK Education Foundation awards grants to members of Akava's member organisations in the Special Fields. When awarding grants, emphasis is placed on education, research activities or the development of learning materials, professions and disciplines that can benefit Akava's Special Fields membership.

Skillan ja Akavan erityisalojen jäsenenä voit itse päivittää jäsenrekisterissä olevia tietojasi Akavan Erityisalojen verkkoasioinnin kautta. Kirjautumiseen tarvitse jäsennumerosi tai sähköpostiosoitteesi. Jos olet jäänyt työttömäksi, perhevapaalle tai eläkkeelle, voit ilmoittaa muutoksista Akavan Erityisalojen sivuilta löytyvien lomakkeiden avulla.

Ikävä kuulla, että haluat erota! Akavan Erityisalat hallinnoi jäsenrekisteriämme, ja eroilmoitus tulee tehdä heidän verkkosivujensa kautta.

Jos haluat erota Akavan Erityisaloista ja työttömyyskassa Erkosta mutta hyödyntää myös jatkossa Skillan omia jäsenetuja, voit halutessasi vaihtaa Skillan ei-järjestäytyneeksi jäseneksi (jäsenmaksu 80€/vuosi). Does ERKO Kassa collect the membership fee directly from the benefit?

Unfortunately, Erko does not charge a fixed membership fee for the benefits paid in unemployment. The member must take care of the payment of the membership fee during Erko's benefit. You can pay your membership fee for example Akavan's Online Services for Specialized Areas.

I have not received instructions on how to pay the membership fee

Akava Special Industries (AE) manages our membership fee traffic. AE will provide payment instructions to members by email by the end of January. If the payment instructions have not reached you, you can order the reference numbers for 2022 from here. You can also find payment instructions About AE Online Serviceswhere you can additionally check that your contact information is up to date. For non-organized members of Skilla, we will primarily send the membership fee invoice by email every January — February.

What membership fee do I pay for my family leave?

If your employer pays you a salary for the first few months of family leave, you will pay the normal membership fee for this period. In this case, mark Akavan's Online Services for Specialized Areas your family leave starts from the day you start receiving Kela's parental allowance.

I study alongside my work, can I change to a student member?

Full-time students are eligible for student membership and you can change your membership to a student membership using this form. Minor studies do not qualify for student membership. More information about student membership >>

I want to resign from Skilla and/or Akava Special Industries

I'm sorry to hear you want to break up! Akava Special Areas manages our membership register and a resignation notice must be made through their website.

If you want to leave Akava Special Areas and Erko in the unemployment fund, but also take advantage of Skilla's own membership benefits in the future, you can change to a non-organized member of Skilla (membership fee 80€/year). In this case, fill in the above notice of resignation and Skillan membership form for non-organized members. Read more >>
