We are all responsible for making sure everyone feels safe and welcome
A safer space means an environment where everyone feels respected and valued, and free to express themselves. By following these principles, we can together create a space that fosters positive interaction, personal and professional growth, and the success and well-being of our community.
We strive to ensure accessibility at all Skilla events. If a venue is not accessible, this will be clearly stated in the event description. Please note that Skilla’s office is unfortunately not fully accessible.
Skilla's principles for a safer space
We treat each other with respect
We value everyone’s experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or hate speech, and we will address it if it occurs. Everyone has the right to be treated fairly and with respect.
We don't make assumptions
We do not make assumptions about each other’s backgrounds, identities, health, or life situations. We respect everyone’s right to define — or not define — themselves and the way they live and express themselves.
We create space for different ways of participating
We ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be heard in a way that feels right for them. We give each other space and do not dominate discussions or override others’ views.
We learn together
Mistakes are allowed. By asking questions, listening, and adjusting our behaviour, we create a safer environment together. We listen to feedback with an open mind and make changes when needed.
We handle sensitive topics with respect
We keep discussions confidential. This allows everyone to speak openly and safely about more personal or professionally challenging topics.
We address inappropriate behaviour
If we observe discrimination, harassment, or other inappropriate behaviour, we will intervene or contact the event organisers. A Skilla representative has the right to ask anyone behaving inappropriately to leave the event. If necessary, a warning may be issued or participation in future events may be restricted.
Skilla’s safer space principles were approved at a meeting of the Skilla Board on 7 April 2026.
How to act if you experience harassment or feel unsafe at a Skilla event
The designated contact person for harassment-related matters is Skilla’s Vice Chair, Kristiina Halme. If you experience harassment, you can contact Kristiina directly (kristiina.halme@fazer.com).
At Skilla events, you can also share your concerns with any Skilla representative. We welcome all feedback, as open dialogue is essential for maintaining and developing a safer space.
The Skilla Board reviews and updates the safer space principles at least once a year in connection with the review of the governance guidelines.
